Hutong hike | Cafe de la Poste-Great Outdoors-Side Street Pub Crawl

Standard

Maovember headed to the hutongs last Saturday for a three-pub crawl, with drinks and snacks at each stop.

The festivities started at Cafe de la Poste, which also hosted Maovember wine events in 2015 and 2016. Manager Daulet Issabekov greeted pub crawlers with mulled wine, a choice of bruschettas and coffee shots.

The group then headed to The Great Outdoors, led by a mobile mulled wine unit! Once there, they settled down for craft beer, French fries and popcorn chicken with Paul Peng. Many participants headed to the rooftop for views of the surrounding hutongs.

Then it was on to the final stop—Side Street—which meant weaving through, ahem, plenty of side streets. Any chilliness was soon offset at Side Street with mulled cider and snacks, including Buffalo chicken, courtesy of Uday Phalgun.

While the group was modest in size, it had a good deal of fun, and rmb650 was raised for Maovember.
